Family owned and operated, earthworks make its wines from 100% Barossa grapes, grown from small family owned vineyards. Drawing on more than 160 years of local wine knowledge, traditional winemaking methods and minimal processing are used to preserve the purity, integrity, and flavour of the wines.

About the Vineyard

Our vineyards across the Barossa experienced a cold winter with lower rainfall. Dry and warm conditions, particularly before Christmas 2015 resulted in a vintage that was two weeks earlier than average. These dry and warm conditions meant the vineyards were able to ripen the grapes seamlessly, producing an abundance of flavour.

Wine Production

Grapes for the Earthworks Shiraz are sourced from our growers in the Barossa. The grapes are carefully destemmed and crushed to fermenters where the grapes are macerated in a way to minimise extraction of hard tannin, while providing rich and generous fruit. This is achieved with less vigorous pump-overs and lower fermentation temperatures. Maturation then takes place with oak before blending and bottling.

Tasting Notes

Vibrant ruby red with crimson hues. A compote of dark berry and satsuma plum aromas supported with mocha, vanilla, and black pepper accents, along with hints of boysenberry and strawberry, all converge to allow your senses to take you on a journey. A voluptuous palate with a flourish of fresh fruit. The aromas are mirrored on the palate that also has dark chocolate undertones and silky tannins in the background.

Food Pairing

Enjoy with sticky BBQ beef ribs or a spicy cinnamon and rhubarb bake.
